How do I change my display picture?

Go to ‘My Account’ and then click on ‘Avatar’, this will bring you to the page where you can add a new photo or change it as many times as you like.

To upload a new avatar, click ‘Browse’ and then select the file you would like to upload. A dropdown box will then appear which allows you to crop the image to fit the square display space. Once you have cropped the image and you are happy with it, simply click ‘Add Photo’ below and your new image will appear next to your username as an easy way for other schools to identify you.

Any avatars that you upload will be stored in ‘My Avatars’ for you to swap over whenever you like.

How can I edit my profile?

Go to ‘My Account’ and then click ‘My Profile’ which will bring you to your school’s page. You can edit the information on this page by clicking ‘Edit Profile’ underneath the ‘Actions’ heading.

Try to fill in as much information as possible about your school so that other members of Link Our School can get a good idea of your school’s values and interests.

On the right of this page you can also choose whether your profile is public or only visible to schools that you are linked with.

If you make any changes to your profile information, remember to click ‘Save’ at the bottom of the page.

How do I edit my profile picture?

The quickest way to edit your profile picture is to click ‘Photos’ on the main navigation bar and then click ‘Upload’ in the top right corner of the page. A pop up box will then appear asking which album you would like the picture to be uploaded to and here you can either choose and existing album or create a new one.

Once you have chosen the album, you will be taken to the ‘Add Photos’ page where you can select the file(s) that you want to upload. When your new photo has completed uploading, a pink box will appear asking you to give the photo a title and description to summarise the image. To set this photo as your profile photo you must select ‘Profile photos’ from the categories menu.

When you return to view your profile you will now see the most recently uploaded photo as your profile picture. You can switch between any profile pictures by clicking in the profile photo switcher on ‘My profile’.

How do I upload a video?

Click ‘Videos’ on the main navigation bar and then click ‘Upload’ in the top right corner of the screen. When the pop up box appears, choose which album you would like the video to be saved in and click ‘Continue’.

You will then be taken to the ‘Add Videos’ page where you can select the file(s) that you would like to upload. LinkOurSchool accepts most file types but it is recommended to keep the file size as small as possible.

Once the upload is complete, a pink info box will appear where you can give the video a title and a description. You can also choose which category your video fits into which will help other schools if they are looking for something in particular in their search.

How do I enter a competition?

Click ‘Contests’ in the main navigation menu and then click ‘Enter Contest’ underneath the contest that you wish to enter. You will be able to see how many days are left before the competition ends.

You can enter as many times as you like as long as different children have been involved in the production of each entry.

Once all of the entries are received, the winner will be the video with the most votes.

How do I find schools in my area?

You can find schools in your area by clicking ‘Members’ in the main navigation menu and then using the search function on the right hand side of the page. You can search for other schools using their postcode of county.

You can also use the ‘World Map’ which can be found in the submenu of the members page. This displays all of the schools that are currently using LinkOurSchool and you can click on any of the icons to reveal the school at that location and then view their profile to learn more about them.

How do I connect with another school?

When you are viewing another school’s profile that you would like to link with, you simply click ‘Add Friend’ in the top right corner of the page to request a connection. The other school will have to accept your request before they appear as one of your linked schools.

How can I send a private message to another school?

  1. In the bottom right hand corner of the page there is an envelope icon on your notification bar. Click this icon and then click compose and a screen will appear for you to write a new message. In the recipient field, type in the username of the school that you would like to message and if the name exists then it will appear as you are typing so you be sure that you are messaging the right user.
  2. When viewing another school’s profile page, you can simply click ‘Message’ in the top right corner of the page.

How do I view my sent messages?

Click on the envelope in the notification bar at the bottom of your screen and then click ‘Sent’. Here you can see any messages and greetings that you have previously sent to other schools.

I accidentally deleted the wrong message, can I retrieve it?

Click on the envelope in the notification bar at the bottom of your screen and then click ‘Trash’. You can view any messages that you have deleted and then select the one that you wish to retrieve and click ‘Restore’. This will move the message back to your inbox.

Are my messages on here permanently unless I delete them?

Old messages may be removed periodically in order to save space on our server and make sure that we are delivering the fastest user experience for all of our members.

A member keeps harassing me, what can I do?

If a member of the site is harassing you, ignore or block that user. If the problem progresses you should contact the site administrator.

Why was my account terminated?

We strictly enforce our Terms of Service and make every effort possible to make sure all users are following them. Your account may have been terminated due to a breach in the Terms of Service (aka TOS). If you felt that your account was terminated for no probable reason, we ask that you contact the site administrator.

Why can't I log in to my account?

Chances are you may have misspelled your password or had your caps lock on while typing your password. Try typing your password with caps lock off. If this fails, you can request a password that will be sent to the email address you provided when you registered.

What happens if I forget my username or password?

If you are unable to log in because you have forgotten your username or password, you can also log in using the email address that you registered with LinkOurSchool.

If you are still unable to log in because you have forgotten your password, just click the ‘Forgot Password’ button on the log in screen and a reminder will be sent to your email address.
